Chávez, International Media Star

You certainly have to give him credit for that. Chávez sure knows how to work the international media circu(it)s. Since the beginning of the year, he's been constantly in the international headlines for mediating in the Colombian hostage drama. NPR recently had a call-in talk show on him and, as if it weren't enough exposure already, the venerable, left-leaning magazine, The Nation has him on the cover sheet of its current issue. The Nation piece, written by Daniel Wilkinson, Human Rights Watch Deputy Director for the Americas, focuses on the contradictions in today's Venezuela from a critical perspective. The article entitled Chavez's Fix is definitely worthwhile reading. Check it out and let's discuss it in the comments section.
